-    NJ State Pandemic Flu Plan

-    Report Cards/Progress Reports Electronic Notification

Dear Parents,

My letter today is in response to the NJ State Pandemic Flu Plan initiative.  Northern Valley like other schools throughout the state is required to outline for parents and students a plan as a precaution should this alert become a reality.  Our plan is as follows:

If we should have a large number of students unable to attend school and not enough teachers to staff each classroom, school will be closed.   We do not know how long school would be closed, but so as not to expose additional individuals to the disease, all school activities including practices and games would be cancelled.

Students would receive class assignments by visiting their teacher web pages accessible via www.nvnet.org.  Students would then complete their assignments and return them to their teachers through the school email network (First Class).  Receipt of these assignments would act as a record of student attendance.

To prepare for the potential online instruction, your response to our question will allow us to determine how to provide instruction during school closure as well as send report cards/progress reports electronically in lieu of quarterly mailings.

Please contact your child’s guidance counselor only if your answer is NO.  If it is yes, no further action is necessary.

Do you have internet/email access at home?

1. If your answer is yes, no further action is necessary.

2.If your answer is NO regarding internet access, contact your child’s guidance counselor listed below by November 15, 2009.

We appreciate a prompt response to our question so that we may prepare for emergencies as well as parental access to reports.

Sincerely,

Bruce R. Sabatini, Ed.D.
